Well, the 66th annual is in the books, and it was one to remember.
Despite the changes to this town in recent years, all of its small-town charm was surely on display at Squamish’s largest yearly event.
And that is due to another strong district tradition — volunteerism.
Thus, to all of you, for all you did and do to bring this festival to life, this acrostic is for you.
Thank you to the festival committee members and volunteers, for giving of your time and energy to make the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úDays Loggers Sports Festival Happen.
Helping with the BC Timber Sales Kettle Boil challenge and the District of Â鶹Éç¹ú²úLumberjack Chili Cook-off Invitational started the festival off right on Thursday.
And bravo to the folks who helped with the Husqvarna Canada and Inland Truck and Equipment Chair Carve buzz, and to the tireless folks who made the hilarious Legion, West-Barr Contracting and Ashlaur Trading Bed Races happen, drawing us all together on Friday.
No one will soon forget the amazing volunteers who made mini-loggers sports enthusiasts out of the youngsters who took part in the Fortis BC and Woodfibre LNG Kids Festival Saturday morning.
Kudos to the many, many folks who make the two days of the Sea to Sky Gondola/Woodfibre LNG Loggers Sports shows the best action around. Countless admiration to the competitors without whom there would be no show at all. The days would not have been the same without the Â鶹Éç¹ú²úRotary Club beef-on-a-bun, so kudos to the dedicated helpers there, too. And those who put on Â鶹Éç¹ú²úValley Equestrian Axe Throw Invitational made the perfect end to a perfect festival Day 3.
You rock, service clubs who supplied so many volunteers. Yes, you — Howe Sound Curling Club, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #277, Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue, Rotary Club of Squamish, Â鶹Éç¹ú²úElks Lodge #119 and Â鶹Éç¹ú²úValley Equestrian Association.
Organizers of the Elks (#119) Peter Harris Pancake Breakfast not only filled grateful, hungry bellies first thing Sunday, but they also kept the line moving and cleared the tables in no time flat. Thank you to those special people, too.
Unrestrained ‘job well done’ to all the helpers and participants who made the RCM – SARJR Transport, Badger Industries and Skytech Yarding festival parade entertaining and safe. You put smiles on small and big faces on the final day of the festival.
