A coalition of unions is suing to block billionaire Elon Musk鈥檚 DOGE cost-cutting operation from accessing the highly-sensitive Treasury payment system that handles Social Security, Medicaid and other government operations.
The lawsuit filed in federal court in Washington contends that Musk鈥檚 staffers are using the system in violation of several privacy laws and other statutes that govern who can access the network.
鈥淕ranting DOGE-affiliated individuals full, continuous, and ongoing access to that information for an unspecified period of time means that retirees, taxpayers, federal employees, companies, and other individuals from all walks of life have no assurance that their information will receive the protection that federal law affords鈥� the lawsuit alleges, seeking a restraining order keeping them out of the system.
At the Capitol, Republicans face questions about Trump and Musk
The No. 2 Senate Republican is fine with cutting USAID. But others are not so sure.
鈥淚 think it鈥檚 appropriate for the president and the administration want to hold them accountable and make sure taxpayer money is used wisely,鈥� said Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming, the GOP whip.

Buckley Space Force Base in Colorado will act as a staging area for immigration enforcement
U.S. Rep. Jason Crow toured the base in Aurora, Colorado, Monday where officials told him that the facility will be used as a base of operations for federal immigration enforcement agencies but not as a detention center for immigrants in the U.S. illegally.
鈥淚 showed up today, started poking around like I like to do, and did discover that indeed the facility is being used for Homeland Security operations, for ICE operations,鈥� said Crow, a Democrat, as he stood in front of the base and its sweep of dry, windblown grass.
Last week, Department of Defense officials said the base would be used to process immigrants, prompting concern from elected leaders. Crow鈥檚 visit to the base Monday didn鈥檛 turn up any signs that migrants would be housed there, such as cots, he said.

In a letter to lawmakers obtained by The Associated Press, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has designated Peter Marocco to carry out administrative duties for the agency.

EPA warns over 1,100 workers their employment could be terminated
An email sent to Environmental Protection Agency staffers hired within the past year says they are on probationary status, and that the agency 鈥渉as the right to immediately terminate you.鈥欌��
Once a notice of termination is received, 鈥測our employment is ended immediately,鈥欌�� the email said.
The email was sent to employees by Kimberly Patrick, principal deputy assistant administrator for mission support at the EPA. A copy of the email was obtained by The Associated Press.

The email says some employees may be able to appeal their removal to the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board, a quasi-judicial agency in the executive branch. Mexico and the United States have agreed to suspend the threatened tariffs for one month as immediately deploys 10,000 members of its National Guard to their shared border to battle drug trafficking, especially fentanyl.
President Claudia Sheinbaum said that Mexico had requested a call with since Friday. The U.S. president called at 8 a.m. (Mexico) on Monday. He and Sheinbaum spoke for more than half an hour.
The U.S. committed to doing more to stop the trafficking of guns into Mexico and both countries have established teams to continue discussing security and trade issues going forward, Sheinbaum said.
Trump asked how long she wanted to pause it and she suggested forever, but he said Mexico could have a month to show results.
