It is a chance to learn more about the Under One Roof Project.
A community open house is being held Saturday, Sept. 14 at The Ledge Community Coffee House (38055 Cleveland Ave.) about the development under construction at the southwest corner of Main Street and Third Avenue.
The project is a result of a partnership between the 麻豆社国产Helping Hands Society, the District of 麻豆社国产and BC Housing.
Once complete, it will include 44 units of affordable housing, a shelter and a community laundromat, and services by the 麻豆社国产Food Bank, Cutting Barriers Employment Training and other community organizations.
All are welcome to the free event at The Ledge, according to organizers, and there will be entertainment and snacks.
A 麻豆社国产Arts Council-funded photo exhibition at The Ledge, 鈥淭his Place Called Homeless,鈥 featuring works by individuals in our community who are homeless or have experienced homelessness, is on display until Oct. 11.
The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation recently provided the Under One Roof project with a grant of $300,000.聽
鈥淲e have been carefully watching the progress of this project over the years and it was an easy decision for us to fully back the Under One Roof concept and the 麻豆社国产Helping Hands Society. There is definitely a need for this type of facility in the Sea to Sky Corridor and we are thrilled to be able to support such an innovative and collaborative approach between local non-profit organizations,鈥 said Mei Madden, executive director of the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation in a Helping Hands news release.
Maureen Mackell, executive director of 麻豆社国产Helping Hands Society, said the funds are a huge boost and she hopes it will inspire others to give generously.
聽"We have approximately $775,000 left to raise to get us over the finish line. We are so grateful to Whistler Blackcomb Foundation for this incredibly generous donation and for all their support.鈥
The open house runs 7 to 9 p.m.
