Sutton Group Realty Services Ltd. is reshaping the look of its top leadership.
The B.C.-based real estate company announced Tuesday (May 21) it’s appointed James Innis as president and chief operating officer. He’s been tasked with leading Sutton’s new growth, technology and capital market initiatives.
"[Innis’] vast and diverse experience in fintech and capital markets will be instrumental in merging Sutton's strong Canadian presence with a forward-looking, technology-led approach that is sorely needed in the sector,” Sutton CEO and chairman Ross McCredie said in a statement.
Innis is the former managing director of R-LABS Canada Inc., which focuses on working with entrepreneurs to build companies within the realm of real estate technology. He also served on the board of directors of Assembly, an off-site pre-fabricated mass timber housing company.
Sutton said Innis’ hiring signals a strategic shift for the company as it moves towards enhancing support for partners and agents with technology and data, and marks a new chapter in its mission to “evolve the Canadian real estate sector towards technology-driven wealth management.”
"I am excited to join the proven team at Sutton Group at an exciting time and am optimistic about our future," said Innis in a statement.
"Sutton Group holds an important place in the ecosystem as a trusted brand for Canadians and with a unique opportunity to support Canadian communities and homeowners towards a better future."
Sutton Group has 200 franchise partner offices and 6,000 agents responsible for $35 billion in annual transactions across Canada.
