The way 2020 has gone, one of the best things that anyone can do is to keep a close eye on their own mental health and wellbeing. That鈥檚 not even meant to be a glib or snarky way of expressing 鈥淲eird year, huh?鈥� sentiments.

A few developments this week bring home the mounting frustration and anxiety the B.C. business world is facing in month five of the pandemic.

I ended up in the ER this weekend. Being the klutz I am, I bruised myself head to toe and messed up a finger 鈥� falling in the bathroom. Everyone at the hospital was amazing and kind. In fact, I have never had a bad experience in any ER.

It鈥檚 fairly common in the news business to have feedback lean to the negative side. Under stories people don鈥檛 fancy, we may see comments such as: 鈥淪low news day?鈥�; 鈥淥h, you鈥檙e just trying to generate clicks.鈥� or, 鈥淭his isn鈥檛 news.

This week, more than 150 of the world鈥檚 leading authors and thinkers, including J.K. Rowling, Margaret Atwood, Noam Chomsky, and Gloria Steinem, published a letter in Harper鈥檚 Magazine entitled, 鈥淎 Letter on Justice and Open Debate.

The current health pandemic has shone a light on the cracks in many of our public systems, and BC Parks is no exception. B.C.

Recently, a car closed within inches of me on my bicycle as I approached the intersection where Mamquam Road divides into Government Road and by cutting me off forced me into the turn against the car鈥檚 passenger side.

As with almost every business in this country, local governments have felt the pinch of COVID-19. With rec centres and libraries shuttered and other services curtailed due to the pandemic, many city halls have laid off staff.
